Located between Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu, Kakaako in recent years has been known to be an area of new condo constructions, mostly moderate-luxury to ultra-luxury condos such as Waiea, Park Lane, Anaha, The Symphony, Keauhou Place, etc. Major grocers and retail outlets include Whole Foods Market and Down to Earth.
Kakaako is being developed by two major developers, Howard Hughes Corp. that’s responsible for the development of Ward Village (wardvillage.com) and Kamehameha Schools (ourkakaako.com) is responsible for the development of Our Kakaako. To put it in perspective, roughly the area to the left of Ward Ave. and toward Downtown is being developed by Kamehameha Schools while the area to the right of Ward Ave. toward Ala Moana/Waikiki is being developed by Howard Hughes. Both developers have similar objectives of developing its respective parcels into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood with residential and retail units. The rail transit is expected to pass through the area, which should add a level of convenience for area residents.
The main advantages of living in Kakaako include - proximity to Waikiki, Downtown Honolulu, major retail outlets such as Ala Moana Shopping Center (www.alamoanacenter.com) and Ward Village (www.wardvillage.com), Ala Moana Beach Park, Neal Blaisdell Center, etc.
